On August 22nd 2019 YAP Ireland hosted our National Event in Croke Park, titled ‘Connected Communities’. This event bought together Young People and Families from all around Ireland who are on the YAP programme, to discuss the importance of Community in our lives.
On the day, our nationwide participation groups took to the stage to speak out about the importance of connecting with your local community and to showcase all of their project work from the previous year. Our audience witnessed presentations on the environment, up-cycling, community spirit, services available to our localities. We were also entertained by some wonderful singing performances when our young people had the opportunity to display their unique talents.
Special thanks to our guest speakers on the day who spoke to the attendees on various topics such as the role of the Garda in the Community and the importance of participation in the social services strategy. Our Speakers were: Pamela Cooper; Child and Family Network Coordinator, Michelle Sheehan, Area Manager Tusla, Deirdre Connolly, Standards Development Lead HIQA, Garda Shane Kelly J.L.O and Lindsey Markey, Kevin Webster and the full group of young people involved in designing ChangingFutures.ie .
