YAP staff members Andrew Chapple, Catriona Lawless and Joe Johnston attending the Internet Safety seminar ‘Keeping Children Safe On Line- A Collaborative Approach to Internet Safety’ held in Galway on the 8th of February to mark Internet Safety Week.
The Seminar was organised by the Internet Safety Subgroup of Galway and Roscommon Children and Young Peoples Services Committees (CYPSC) . Youth Advocate Programmes staff sit on the CYPSC Internet Safety Subgroup and worked with colleagues in EPIC, ISPCC, NUIG, TUSLA, Youth Work Ireland and Foroige to deliver a programme to inform both professionals and parents.
Speakers at the conference were: David Stanton TD, Minister of State for Justice with special responsibility for Equality, Immigration and Integration Dr. Geoffrey Shannon, Special Rapporteur for Child Protection, Brendan Smith, Insight Centre for Data Analytics, NUIG, Jasmina Byrne from UNICEF and Gillian Baker, Regional Services Manager, ISPCC.
