Youth Advocate Programmes Ireland CLG are delighted to announce that we have now set up an Independent Advocacy Service, for the young people in the Ginesa Suite, Saint John of God Hospital, Stillorgan. This follows on from awarding them with the Investing in Children Award. It is the first young person’s Independent Advocacy Service within an adolescent inpatient setting in Ireland.
The aim of this service is to allow young people to access an independent advocate, to ensure clarity and understanding of the service provided in the Ginesa Suite and to enhance their participation in the service provision.
The Independent Advocacy Service will enhance the voice and participation by service users and parents/carers, to ensure ownership and involvement in the decision making in the Ginesa Suite. Engagement in the service is voluntary for all young people and their famillies.
