YAP Ireland would like to extend a huge congratulations to our young person Peter who recently received his bronze Gaisce award. Peter had a difficult few months personally, but continued to dedicate his time and energy to achieving this award and we are really delighted for him. Below is a message from his advocate Geraldine who is very proud of Peter’s achievements.
“Peter did really really well achieving his Gaisce award under particularly challenging times and especially during the 26 weeks of covid .
He undertook 13 weeks of community involvement giving many hours of his time doing voluntary maintenance work involving painting, repairing, cleaning equipment etc, he studied and learned French as his personal skill and also did 26 weeks of hiking and hillwalking. Peter also helped out coaching and mentoring some of the young school groups during his time in the Carlingford centre.
Throughout his involvement with Gaisce he has developed a great sense of responsibility. He has developed and improved on his interpersonal skills and self- development skills. He has gained patience, trust and compassion and overall was really happy with his achievement”.
